About

I’m Jessica, a recently viva’d historian, who collected oral history memories of ordinary peoples’ experiences of the early Cold War in Britain for an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership, studying with the University of Strathclyde and Imperial War Museum,

How did British civilians experience the power play in geopolitics? What was their perception of the nuclear threat? What were their priorities during that period? And were their priorities related to Cold War events, anxieties, or not?

I started this blog as a master’s student of International History – I just wanted to write about things that were playing on my mind – and if you look in the archives you’ll see that my subject matter was varied and personal.

Being a historian I’d rather keep those blogs in the archive than delete them. But now I hope that my journey in academia will be interesting, honest, and come up with some interesting new research for you to read.

Thanks for following!
